The International Mother Language Day, proclaimed by the General Conference of UNESCO in November 1999, has been observed yearly since February 2000 to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.
The 2011 edition focuses on the theme "The information and communication technologies for the safeguarding and promotion of languages and linguistic diversity" during an Information session that will take place at UNESCO Headquarters in Room IV. Consult the programme below for more information.
