IOC/WESTPAC Workshop on Coral Reef Restoration Techniques in the Western Pacific Region
In review that the region-wide mass bleaching and mortality of corals in 2010 has been emerging as one of regional hotspot issues, the workshop aims to summarize the coral reef restoration techniques that have been used or experimented in each country in the WESTPAC region.
The workshop will be conducted for three days with various presentations and a field trip expected to cover the following topics:
i. Current status of coral reef restoration and rehabilitation in the WESTPAC region;
ii. Methodologies of reef restoration and rehabilitation used within and outside the Western Pacific region;
iii. Case studies and demonstration of some reef restoration techniques.
