Workshop on Community-based Identification and Inventorying of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Nepal
This is the second workshop among ongoing series of capacity building workshops for the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, and is perhaps the most critical one.
This capacity building workshop will train 25 Nepalis on inventory making of the intangible cultural heritage in Nepal.
This 8-day long workshop will introduce the Convention in brief and provide an introduction to the concept of inventorying and discuss various approaches and methodologies. The participants will take part in formulating the format for inventorying and carry out a short pilot over a two-day field trip. The inventorying will include recording and documentation and thus involve basic training in equipment use and field methodologies. This will be followed by analysis of the materials collected and sessions that deal with the way forward for the best utilisation of the inventoried materials. The training should enable participants to plan and carry out inventorying exercises.
