First Seminar on Open Access to Scientific Information

The "First Seminar on Open Access to Scientific Information" will consist of presentations from experts, analysis and reflection on the topic of Open Access to Scientific Information, its importance and benefits. Four international experts will address the main aspects of this issue: definition, context and main approaches, policies and strategies, infrastructure, technology and resources, legal and licensing issues, among others.
This event will be celebrated in commemoration of the 2013 International Open Access Week, an annual global event that aims to raise awareness of the importance and impact of open access and promote the free and public availability of scientific information, without economic, legal or technical barriers and the free exchange of knowledge.

The Seminar is organized by APEC University (UNAPEC) and Latindex (Regional System of Online Information for Scientific Journals in Latin-America and the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal, and sponsored by the UNESCO Regional Office of Culture for Latin-America and the Caribbean (La Habana).
