Leadership forum for quality higher education: internationalization policies and practices in Asia-Pacific

To develop a better understanding of the internationalization of higher education in Asia-Pacific, the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau for Education (UNESCO Bangkok) and UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office will co-host a regional leadership forum on internationalization policies and practices in Asia-Pacific. The event is generously supported by the Republic of Korea Funds-In-Trust (KFIT) under a flagship project on cross-border mobility in Asia-Pacific.

Objectives of the meeting:
- Share preliminary research findings from four country case studies on key dimensions of internationalization in higher education (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan);
- Deepen understanding of the practices of the Lisbon Convention in Europe, and Tokyo Convention in Asia-Pacific, including preparations for a forthcoming Global Convention on the recognition of qualifications;
- Explore possible linkages with other initiatives on the internationalization of higher education in Asia-Pacific (e.g. including the Central Asia Education Platform - CAEP);
- Promote a thematic regional network among key stakeholders in order to build a platform for continuous collaboration on internationalization in Asia-Pacific.
