Headquarters Launch of the EFA Global Monitoring Report 2011 “ The Hidden Crisis: Armed Conflict and Education “, with a presentation of findings from the Report , by Ms Irina Bokova, with the participation of Ms Marguerite “Maggy” Barankitse, the President of Maison Shalom, an NGO in Burundi and an exceptional woman who fights to protect children from the devastating effects of war and AIDS by providing them with education and a dignified and happy future.



The launch of the Global Monitoring Report 2011 will coincide with the 100th anniversary of the International Women’s Day (IWD), for which the theme chosen this year by the United Nations is "Equal Access to Education, Training, and Science and Technology: Pathway to Decent Work".

Mr. Eric Falt, Assistant Director-General of External relations and Information Sector, will moderate the event which will also feature presentations by Ms Nicole Bella, Policy Analyst, EFA Global Monitoring Report Team and Ms S. Gülser Corat, Director, Division for Gender Equality, Office of the Director-General.

Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in English and French.
