The 10th extraordinary session of the World Heritage Committee will take place at UNESCO Headquarters (Room X) on 9 November 2011 from 2.00 to 3.00 pm.

The main purpose of this extraordinary session is the election of a Vice-Chairperson of the Bureau as well as the Rapporteur, as these designations were not completed during the 35th session of the World Heritage Committee (19-29 June 2011, UNESCO).

In accordance with Article 8.1 of the World Heritage Convention, the term of office of members of the World Heritage Committee, which will be newly elected by the General Assembly of States Parties at its 18th ordinary session (7-9 November 2011), will begin at the end of the 36th session of the General Conference, that is, 11 November 2011. Consequently, given that the World Heritage Committee will meet in its 10th extraordinary session before that date, it will be constituted by the current members.
