About Friendship: a method for rapprochement

© Compagnia di Gesù
Colloque amitié Matteo Ricci

The life and works of Matteo Ricci – a Jesuit, astronomer, philosopher, cartographer and mathematician – stand as an example of cultural intermingling, as portrayed in his “Treaty of Friendship” (Jiàoyǒulùn).
During the symposium, film clips from Gjon Kolndrekaj’s “Matteo Ricci: a Jesuit in the Kingdom of the Dragon”, presented at the 2009 Venice Film Festival, will be screened.

The exhibition “At the crossroads of history: Matteo Ricci (1552 – 1610), a Jesuit between Rome and Beijing” aptly complements this meeting.

By invitation, limited seating capacity.
