Regional workshop on an ethical framework for climate change policies

Following the decision of the General Conference of UNESCO (October 2009) concerning the Ethics of Climate Change, Member States have asked the Division of Ethics of Sciences and Technology and COMEST to conduct a series of regional workshops on an ethical framework for climate change policies. Between March and May 2010, regional workshops will be held in all five regions. Several plans and options are already in preparation.
For Europe and North America, a workshop is proposed in Yerevan, Armenia on 19 to 20 April. Up to two additional meetings may be scheduled later.
For the Arab States, a meeting is proposed in Rabat, Morocco on 15 and 16 March with an additional meeting to be scheduled.
Africa begins with a meeting in Dakar, Senegal on 16 and 17 March and then Nairobi, Kenya on 29 and 30 April.
For Latin America and the Caribbean, meetings are proposed in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, and in Montevideo, Uruguay, in May.
Finally, for the Asia-Pacific region, a first meeting is proposed in New Delhi, India on 29 and 30 March. Two further meetings to be held in April-May are to be determined, for which possible locations include Beijing, China; Yokohama, Japan; Auckland, New Zealand; and Melbourne, Australia.
