Giorgio Battistelli Musical Opera Theatre

This concert is organized in the framework of the International Festival of Cultural Diversity (17-26 May 2010).

This is the Giorgio Battistelli Musical Theatre Opera performed by the Craftsmen Orchestra and Choir. It is presented by the Festival of Poiesis of Fabriano (Italy)
With his seasoned choir of craftsmen presented by the Festival Poiesis in Fabriano, Italy, Giorgio Battistelli invites us to discover the universe of Experimentum Mundi, a distinctive work of musical theatre. Sixteen workers in blue make their tools sing at the invitation of Franco Marcoaldi who simultaneously recites their description from Diderot and Alembert’s Encyclopedia. The musical dialogue between the instruments of this exceptional sonic collaboration quickly becomes a fantastic symphony of emotions that gives a different voice to diversity. Fabriano is at once a historically significant site of industrial and artisanal tradition, notably in the fabrication of fine paper, and also a cultural center transfigured each year by the Festival Poiesis hosted by Francesca Merloni. Bringing together these two traditions of work and inspiration, the master workers of Fabriano create extraordinary music with their traditional tools.
