Portuguese Historical Heritage in the World and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation

Since 1958, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation has devoted particular attention to the recovery and the safeguarding of the Portuguese historical heritage in the world. Netherlands, Malta, Brazil, Uruguay, Morocco, Benin, Kenya, the Islamic Republic of Iran, India, Bangladesh, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia are some of the countries where the Foundation has operated.
This exhibition offers a journey through time and the continents, displaying some of the civil, religious and military monuments that have been restored with the foundation’s support. Photographs, maps, drawings and maquettes will illustrate the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation’s activities, and bring the history of Portugal to light, along with the still-visible traces of cultural dialogue since the 15th century.
