Janis Karklins, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Communication and Information, will be the first to speak under the agenda item “Information and communication technologies for development” at the 65th session of the UN General Assembly on 26 October 2010.
Mr Karklins will present the UN report on Communication for Development Programmes in the UN System to the Second Committee of the UN General Assembly and will be referring to the relevant inter-agency round table both of which are coordinated by UNESCO.
