Poster "Arabic Sciences "

This travelling exhibition comprised of 33 panels produced by the Institut du monde arabe in Paris, describes the contribution of Arabic science to science in general. It is shown within the context of the celebration of World Science Day for Peace and Development 2010 (10 November) and the International Year for the Rapprochement des Cultures (2010).

From the ninth century onwards, scholars were not satisfied just to collect the works from ancient Greece, Iran and China, but they also knew how to bring astronomy, medicine, mathematics and physics to a new level of excellence, with the help of local sponsors and patrons. Until about the fifteenth century, the language of learning was Arabic. Scholars expressed themselves in this language. They not only created Arabic science but science in general. This science, from its beginnings to its greatest era has a universal vocation.
