Vth Latin American and Caribbean Congress of RedBioética

The Vth Latin American and Caribbean Congress of RedBioética will take place in Lima, Peru, from 11 to 13 December 2014, and focus on "Bioethics and vulnerability in Latin America and the Caribbean". The event is organized by UNESCO's Regional Programme of Bioethics and the Ethics of Science in Latin America and the Caribbean (UNESCO Office in Montevideo) and Redbioética UNESCO, with the collaboration of Colegio Médico del Perú and the National Institute of Health of Peru.

Addressed to investigators, professors, members of national bioethics committees and students of the region, it will offer conferences from international experts, round tables, oral communications and poster sessions on the ethics perspective of biomedical themes, research, and social, sanitary and environmental issues from a human rights approach.

A pre-congress activity, a "Symposium on Health Systems in Latin America and the Caribbean", will take place on 10 December. Several outstanding and renowned representatives from different countries in the region who will participate and present their analysis of the ethical aspects of health systems.

The Congress will also tackle important themes related to ethics of science and environmental ethics in direct connection with issues covered at the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2014 (COP 20 - Lima, Peru, 1-12 December 2014).

Moreover, the VIIth Open Meeting of Former Students of the Bioethics Permanent Education Programme (Redbioetica) will take place within the framework of the Congress, where the most recent work of former students of the Programme will be exposed.
