Anti-doping Training Session at Biathlon Youth/Junior World Championships

The objective of the session is to raise awareness of young athletes on the dangers of doping, notably its health consequences and its impact on the fundamental values underpinning sport.
As the Secretariat of the International Convention against Doping in Sport, which now counts 151 States Parties, UNESCO is deeply concerned about the erosion of ethics in sport and the gross inequity created by cheating athletes. Such an impact poses a threat not only to sport itself but also to youth and to society as a whole. In this regard, UNESCO’s action in the fight against doping strongly emphasizes education, notably for young people.
