A presentation ceremony of the Collection “The Different Aspects of Islamic Culture”, which UNESCO has just achieved with the publication of the two last volumes in August 2016, will be held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on Thursday 17 November 2016, from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. in Room XI.

Started in1977 and achieved in 2016, this six-volumes collection is part of UNESCO’s General and Regional Histories Projects and has mobilized over 150 scholars from different regions of the world.

Through its holistic approach and pluralistic perspective, it significantly contributes to a better knowledge of the Islamic civilization and constitutes a relevant tool for intercultural and interreligious dialogue.

The ceremony will be attended by UNESCO’s Director-General and representatives from the World Islamic Call Society (WICS), the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) and the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO). It will be followed by a panel discussion on "Islam and Islamic culture in the world today".

Simultaneous interpretation of the proceedings will be provided in English, French, and Arabic.
