PCST (Public Communication of Science and Technology ) 2012 Congress

After PCST 2010 in New Delhi, Florence will host the 12th international Public Communication of Science and Technology (PCST) Conference. The theme of this year's edition is “Quality, Honesty and Beauty in science and technology communication”. This is an important scientific event organised under the patronage of UNESCO and with the support of the Italian National Commission for UNESCO. Among the plenary speakers, popular icon of Italian tv science journalism, Piero Angela.
The event will include themes such as: What does quality mean in science communication? Evaluating public communication of science; Art and/in science communication; Two decades of academic publishing in PCST; Ethics and aesthetics of science communication; Communicating the social sciences; Reflexive challenges: communicating PCST?; Emerging trends and issues in science communication; Changing media, changing formats, changing science communication models?; Public communication of technology: the ‘Cinderella’ of PCST?

Two working sessions organized by the UNESCO Venice Office, one of the partners of PCST 2012, are scheduled on Thursday 19 April 2012, “Science Communication in the South-East European Region: Overview of the Current Situation” and “Quality and Accountability of Science Communication – UNESCO’s Perspectives/Strategies for South East European Region”.
