MOST School for research and public policy for gender equality

The UNESCO Office for Central America in San José and the Latin American Social Sciences Council (CLACSO) organize the "First MOST School for research and public policy for gender equality", in San Salvador from 1 to 4 March 2016, with support from the National Commission for El Salvador and the Universidad Centroamericana Jose Simeon Cañas.

The main objective is to build capacity in research, planning and policy development to strengthen gender equality. This MOST School targets civil servants, university students and representatives of civil society.

The specific objectives will be:

-Provide intensive training on how to strengthen the interface between research and public policy in the context of implementing the agenda for international development 2030.

- Establish a national competition in El Salvador with regard to gender analysis in project management, policy research and public development policies.

The MOST school adopts a four-day training format, and is based on a participatory educational model in which students participate in experiments that involve the active construction and understanding of new knowledge. The School also includes a preliminary phase of work through a virtual platform provided by CLACSO, which includes an initial review of individual work and exchanges between teachers and students around the proposed activities. The work will be organized in three stages: master lectures, workshops, and courses, supported and guided by experienced facilitators.

MOST schools are initiatives, organized within the scope of UNESCO's Management of Social Transformations (MOST) Programme, which aim to build participants' capacity and skills for public policy making. They are organized around four key principles: flexibility to respond to specific contexts; high academic standards and innovative practices training; the rapid diffusion of knowledge; and the dynamic participation of communities active in Member States.
