The regional Office of UNESCO in Dakar organizes a training workshop of media professionals on gender-based violence, Human rights and Social inclusion, in partnership with the International Women Network, (RIF), UNWOMEN and the other stakeholders of the Joint Program including UNICEF, UNFPA, HCHR, and the Ministry for Women, Family affairs and Children. This activity will be held in Saly (Mbour/Senegal) from 10 to 12 October 2017 with the International Women Network as a privileged partner.

This workshop is centered within the framework of action for a broader audience and the strengthening of acquired capacities in gender equality, human rights and social inclusion issues. It comes after the previous editions held in Saly and Kaolack in 2015 and Fatik in 2016 for the consolidation of experiences and a more efficient implementation of Human rights protection and gender equality policies. Accordingly, it relates to the international legal instruments of promotion and protection of Women's Rights such as the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDEF) and the optional protocol relating to it, the Protocol to the African Charter on Human Rights and Peoples’ rights on the Rights of women in Africa as well as the UN Security Council 1325, 1 820 Resolutions.

The training workshop targets 30 participants who will benefit from a package basically concerning the mainstreaming of gender related issues in information collection and processing, as well as the follow-up of programs and evaluation of their impact after the workshop.

Therefore 30 press officers, journalists and large audience-program producers will acquire or strengthen their skills in gender, gender based-violence citizenship and human rights of women.
