A session will be dedicated to Water Security Challenges through Scientific Cooperation during the 6th International Conference on Water Resources and Environment Research (ICWRER) and on Water and Environmental Dynamics. This session will be held on 6 June 2013 at Koblenz (Germany) and is a contribution to the International Year of Water Cooperation 2013.
The purpose of this session is to emphasize the importance of scientific cooperation and develop a set of recommendations with a view to link scientific research and policy actions.
Human activities have disrupted the natural hydrological and ecological regimes. Besides, the societal and environmental challenges linked to water-related issues are staggering in many cases. Moreover the vulnerability of societies have increased and the number of fatalities as well as the economic damages caused by water-related disasters, such as floods, droughts and landslides is dramatically increasing worldwide.
To deal with the complex, global and climate change, population growth, uncontrolled urban expansion, and land use changes holistic, it is necessary to have multidisciplinary and environmentally approaches to water resources management in order to address water security challenges.
