UNESCO participation in the Budapest Water Summit

The Budapest Water Summit is one of the milestone events of the “2013 the International Year of Water Cooperation” and is dedicated to “The Role of Water and Sanitation in the Global Sustainable Development Agenda ». UNESCO, being the lead Agency to coordinate the celebrations of this International Year on behalf of UN-Water, has put a special effort in participating and contributing to this event.
Among the key contributions to the Summit programme and activities, further to the speech given in the Opening ceremony by the UNESCO Director-General, Ms Irina Bokova, is the organization of a joint exhibition booth with the UNESCO Institute of Water Education (UNESCO-IHE), several side events organized with the UNESCO Water Family and important partners and a key note speech of the International Hydrological Programme (IHP) Secretary in the Science Forum
