Yeosu Declaration Forum

The Yeosu Declaration, pursued as part of the legacy of the Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea, is intended not only to enhance the awareness of dangers faced by the sea but also to promote the necessity of international cooperation for turning these challenges into hopes for the future.

The forum is an opportunity to identify practical applications of the Declaration and actions going forward.

Notable participants include Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations, Kim Hwang-sik, Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea, Willy Telavi, Prime Minister of Tuvalu, and Irina Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO, who will take part in the panel.

The Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO, and particularly Executive Secretary Wendy Watson Wright, participated in the Declaration's review committee.
