Training workshops on Mobile Application Development for Youth for Sustainable Development in Eastern Africa in Nairobi, Kenya.
UNESCO is supporting Nairobi Development School to organise 10 week training workshops for 40 youths on Mobile Application Development for Youth for Sustainable Development in Eastern Africa from 17 July to 8 September 2014 in Nairobi, Kenya.
The training includes workshops that are divided into 7 modules and a Hackathon scheduled September where the students will be required to develop their final mobile applications for presentation.
The training aims at providing young people with the high-level skills and confidence to develop, promote, and sell locally relevant mobile apps that solve local issues of sustainable development and provide employment. This activity is part of UNESCOs ongoing activity under YouthMobile Initiative that builds on the experience of many worldwide initiatives that introduce young people to computer science programming (learning-to-code) and problem solving (coding-to-learn) and seeks to build on experiences targeting young women who are vastly underrepresented in this field.
