UNESCO Youth Forum 2011
UNESCO will organize a regional training of trainers workshop on volunteerism management, in partnership with UN Volunteers in the premises of MS ActionAid/Global Platform, in Amman (Jordan) from 10 to 14 November 2014.
Volunteerism is a powerful means of engaging people in tackling development challenges; It can transform the pace and nature of development. Volunteerism benefits both society at large and the individual volunteer by strengthening trust, solidarity and reciprocity among citizens, and by purposefully creating opportunities for participation of young men and women.
The training aims to enhance the capacity of civil society organizations and youth organizations in the Arab region to address youth empowerment and volunteerism.
The workshop will cover three principal aspects:
1) The concept of volunteerism and its role in society, emphasizing on the mutually beneficial relationship between the volunteer and the organization.
2) The management of volunteers, explaining how to plan a volunteer programme, run successful recruitments and trainings, and ensure a positive relationship between volunteers and staff.
3) The tools and expertise necessary allowing volunteers to conduct further trainings in their home countries.
