Training workshop on investigative journalism for Jordan media professors
The 3-day workshop organized by the UNESCO Beirut office aims to develop the skills of students in media and journalism studies in Lebanon, while making them aware of their rights and informing them about the new framework of youth policy which will be officially promulgated in this country, during a national conference that will be held at the same time.
While young professional journalists working in the Arab countries are widely coming from Lebanese journalism schools and while young generations of reporters show an increasing interest in the Investigative journalism, this specialty remains a new area of study which is not yet taught at Arab universities including Lebanon.
To make up for this shortcoming, UNESCO Beirut office organizes a 3-day workshop on “Investigative Journalism from youth rights perspective in Lebanon”.
The main objective of this training is to develop new skills in final year and master’s degree students in journalism studies that enable them to work with techniques and international criteria recognized in the field of investigative journalism. It aims as well at the same time to familiarize future reporters with ethical norms, issues, youth rights and the framework of the new youth policy which will be promulgated at the time in the country.
The capacity development of young media professionals has been one of the key priorities identified in 2012 by the youth National Forum for the national youth policy organized by the UNESCO in Lebanon so as to strengthen the role of the media in monitoring the national youth policy in Lebanon.
