Pacific World Heritage Workshop
A Pacific World Heritage Workshop will be held in Suva, Fiji, from 27 – 30 November 2013. The Workshop will be organized by UNESCO in cooperation with the Fijian authorities and the Pacific Heritage Hub (PHH) at the University of the South Pacific (USP) with financial assistance under the UNESCO/Australian Funds-in-Trust.
The Workshop will bring together around 50 experts in the field of the preservation of cultural and natural heritage from 16 Member States in Pacific and from some of the State Parties with territories in the Pacific Region, the Advisory Bodies of the World Heritage Committee and other regional partners.
Participants will review progress and discuss the implementation of the Pacific World Heritage Action Plan (2010-2015). They will have an opportunity to discuss other related issues, such as PHH strategy, preparation for the Third UN International Conference on Small Island Developing States (Samoa, September 2014), and the integrated application of the UNESCO Conventions in the field of heritage safeguarding.
Field visit to Sigetoka Sand Dunes on Fiji's Tentative List is programmed for the last day of the Workshop.
