H.E. Mr Michael D. Higgins, President of Ireland, will address the Member States of UNESCO in the presence of the Director-General. The theme of his intervention will be “Drawing water from the same well – the central importance of UNESCO in building peace through the recognition of the power of culture”.
The address by H.E. Mr Michael D. Higgins, President of Ireland, to the Member States of UNESCO will take place in Room X (Fontenoy building) on Tuesday, 19 February 2013 at 10 a.m. Simultaneous interpretation of the proceedings will be provided in English and French.
In addition, two exhibitions devoted to James Joyce and Samuel Beckett will be presented by the Permanent Delegation of Ireland to UNESCO, on the Green Island of Open UNESCO and in the Salle des Actes from Thursday, 14 February to Wednesday, 20 February, to mark the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the visit of the Irish President to UNESCO.
