Study Tour to Uzbekistan for board and management of High Commission for Erbil Citadel Revitalization (HCECR)
Ebil Citadel - Iraq
The visit to historical cities in Uzbekistan would allow the exposure of participants to some of the important Islamic cultural centres in the world and to draw their attention to the similarities and differences between these sites and the Citadel of Erbil.
In the framework of the phase II of the "Erbil Citadel Revitalization" project, nine participants comprising the board and management of the High Commission for Erbil Citadel Revitalization (HCECR) will be visiting the historical capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent. This special study-tour will demonstrate the various interrelated issues to be considered at historic urban sites, ranging from traditional vernacular architecture, preservation of the urban fabric, sustainable construction and energy efficiency of traditional buildings to urban history. Site visits and meetings with experts and stakeholders will permit the HCECR to analyze and discuss ongoing projects and will enrich the cultural background of the participants and give them an overview of the complexity of the task they have been entrusted with.
