The symposium entitled “The reason and its struggles, Enlightenment, modern rationalism, revolution, in the past and today” will be organized jointly with the Gabriel Péri Foundation, the journal "La Pensée”, the Study Group on Rational Materialism, the Union Rationaliste, the Centre of History of Systems of the Modern Thought, the Centre of Studies in Rhetoric, Philosophy and History of Ideas, from Humanism to the Enlightenment (CERPHI), and the Georges Chevrier Centre .
The following round tables will take place in this framework: “The challenges of the XXI century”; “Social relations, economics and social history, humanities, true and false rationalisms”; “Critical rationalism and scientific movements”; “Development of knowledge, processes of change in the categories of thought”.

The objective of this event will be to discuss the historical and theoretical characteristics of the debates and struggles that have not ceased to rage since the birth of the philosophy of Enlightenment and again since the French revolution. The focus will also be on more recent struggles of modern rationalism against irrationalism and also against the trends that aim at impeding the questioning of ideological interests.

Access will be upon presentation of an invitation and ID. To receive the invitation, please write to worldphilosophyday@unesco.org, or call +33 (0)1 45 68 45 48.
