Investing in People: Tools and Country Experiences Integrating Social Dimension in Climate Response
This social dialogue, held during the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2011 (COP17), will identify tools and experiences from countries and UN organizations that have integrated different social factors into policies and programmes and generated additional co-benefits.
Participants will present in an integrated way their experience and knowledge of the social dimensions of mitigation and adaptation policies and programmes.
Recommendations will be provided on how the UN system can more effectively support Member States in ensuring that climate-related policies and measures provide better living conditions for the society as a whole and translate into more decent work, better health, adequate housing, education, gender equality, food security, safe migration, protection of human rights, social protection for the most vulnerable, and ultimately contribute to poverty reduction and sustainable development, ensuring equitable low carbon development processes.
