Ministerial Commitment for Education and Health services in Eastern and Southern Commitment
An information meeting to discuss the successful outcomes of the innovative UNESCO-led programme that included a communications and advocacy campaign, Young People Today. The focus of the campaign was increasing political support for sexuality education and sexual and reproductive health services for adolescents and young people in this region.
UNESCO worked in collaboration with UN and other partners to mobilise political level commitment from ministers of health and education to improve the sexual and reproductive health of adolescents and young people in Eastern and Southern Africa. Ministers affirmed their commitment at a major meeting in Cape Town, South Africa in December 2013. Follow-up and monitoring activities are now being developed.
