10,000 Principals Leadership Programme - Experts Meeting
The experts meeting is to define the parameters for local implementation of the Principals Leadership Programme in Ghana, Kenya and India.
The specific objectives of the meeting are:
• To jointly review the aims of the programme and seize local opportunities;
• To review existing global and local principal training materials/programmes;
• To plan in-country preparation with presentations from representatives of Ghana, Kenya, and India on the current state of principal/school leadership issues, challenges and training needs in the respective country.
UNESCO has recently partnered with Varkey GEMS Foundation to launch the 10,000 Principals Leadership Programme. The overall goal of this joint UNESCO-Varkey GEMS Foundation initiative is to facilitate the professional development of 10,000 principals in three countries: Ghana, Kenya and India over a four-year period. By strengthening the local capacity of specialized institutions and programmes, and providing trainers with continuous technical backstopping, this initiative aims at increasing the supply of effective training programmes to school management teams in Ghana, India and Kenya.
