Tribute to János Szentágothai and to Sir Georg Solti - Sir Georg Solti: Conductor, “Global Ambassador for Peace”

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Sir Georg Solti (1912-1997), celebrated in association with UNESCO, with the support of the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra’s (the Orchestra of the Budapest State Opera House) world-renowned musicians and conductor Tamás Vásáry, will perform the works of Kodály, Mendelssohn Verdi and Brahms in the presence of Lady Solti.
Born in Budapest, Georg Solti started his career at the Budapest Opera House. He became one of the most influential conductors of the 20th century working with all the great opera houses and orchestras. In 1995 he created the World Orchestra for Peace. He received more Grammy Awards than the Beatles.

This UNESCO concert marks the opening of the international celebrations organized for the centennial of Solti. “My life is the clearest proof that if you have talent, determination and luck, you will make it in the end. Never give up!" (Sir Georg Solti).
