Technical meeting on: Preparation of a conceptual and methodological guide and training modules on the routes and the memory tourism
Cidade Velha, centre historique de Ribeira Grande (Cap Vert)
Following the seminar in Brasilia (Brazil) held in August last, a team of five high-level international experts was formed to prepare the conceptual and methodological guide based on the recommendations from the seminar and the results of extensive consultation with professionals within the framework of the Slave Route project.
In order to help the team progress in its work and prepare the training modules recommended in the guide, the Slave Route project: Resistance, Liberty, Heritage will hold a Technical meeting involving the five experts in charge of preparing the guide, training specialists and members of the preparatory group set up in Brasilia for the establishment of an International Network of Managers of sites and routes of memory. This meeting will provide an opportunity to:
(i) Review the progress of work on the guide;
(ii) Define the main lines for the development of training modules;
(iii) Discuss the organization and activities of the International Network and;
(iv) Explore the opportunities and approaches for adapting, disseminating and using the guide and training modules in different regions of the world.
Lastly, it will enable the institutions and organizations that could organize these training courses in each of the regions concerned to be identified and the modalities of a partnership with the Slave Route project to be studied in the context of its new guidelines.
These important exchanges between the co-authors of the tools, the training specialists and leaders of the International Network will thus help the authors of the guide to define clear guidelines and training modules, and to develop a strategy for dissemination and effective use of these tools for the capacity building of managers of routes of memory.
The content developed by the team of experts will be validated later by experts participating in the International network.
