UNESCO Director-General is guest of honour of the French Institute of International Relations (IFRI)

On 19 April 2010, UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova participated in a dinner-debate organized in her honour by the French Institute of International Relations (IFRI) under the theme “How does UNESCO place itself in World Governance?”

The diner-debate took place at the prestigious Headquarters of the Automobile Club of France and gathered thirty two French personalities from diverse spheres, such as finance, politics, academia, and the media. The debate focused on the questions asked to the Director-General on the theme, which generated a wide-ranging exchange that took place informally.

Amongst the participants were : Emeric d’Arcimoles, Deputy Director-General of SAFRAN, Micheline Bossaert, Director of International Affairs at GDF Suez, Hélène Carrere d’Encausse, Perpetual Secretary of the ‘Académie Française’ at Institut de France, Jacques Desponts, Managing Director of BNP Paribas, Béatrice Hadjaje, Editor at RTL, Michèle Jacobs, Director of Institutional Relations and Francophonie at TV5 Monde, Bruno Lescoeur, Managing Director in charge of international business and strategy of EDF-Electricité de France, Thierry de Montbrial, Director General of IFRI, Louis Schweitzer, Honorary Chairman of Renault, Henri Thome, Delegate General for Europe at Bouygues S.A., Xavier de Villepin, Honorary Senator, and Bernard Yvetot, Vice President for Strategy and International Business at France Telecom-Orange.
