unX: A Latin American Community for Entrepreneurship in the Digital Economy
The unX project, is the first Ibero-American Community for Digital Entrepreneurship, aimed at designing massive online open courses to train large groups of people and experiment with avant-garde social tools that allow users to easily interact with their peers. unX will foster lifelong learning and professional training for the future with the participation of all the stakeholder ecosystem, from universities to private entities.
The goal of this strategy is to implement a new model of open higher education based on the intensive use of technology, as a tool to facilitate access to educational resources and new and innovative methodologies for a lifelong and ubiquitous learning.
UnX is entirely in line with other educational initiatives that pioneering universities and institutions are promoting both for higher education and lifelong learning. Thanks to them, an educational breakthrough is on the way, as it is now possible to study from anywhere, interact with thousands of mates through the Internet, share educational materials or access open educational resources created by different universities, and this without visiting a classroom.
The unX project is coordinated by the Center for Virtual Education (CSEV) in collaboration with Telefónica, Santander, UNED (National Distance University -Spain) and the Center for Mobile Learning (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).
After one month of life, more than five thousand students are involved in the unX community, and many European and American universities and public and private institutions are signing agreements with unX to offer education and certification on line. (unX mobile version in already available)
