A vision for the future. Values and principles of a culture of peace in higher education
The Regional University Forum on “Promoting and Integrating the Values and Principles of a Culture of Peace in Higher Education” took place on 8 July 2012 in Bitola, The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. The event was organized under the patronage of the Ministry of Education and Science and the National Commission for UNESCO, and with the support of the UNESCO Venice Office.
Main topic of this regional forum was the role of universities and higher education in promoting and integrating cultural values, peace and humanism in South-East Europe, where most countries are facing social and political transformations.
On the agenda was the exchange of diverse experiences and positive practices, the creation of mechanisms to reinforce the management of educational systems, and the consolidation of dialogue among universities, professors, students, media and society at national and regional levels.
Cross-border knowledge partnership for quality education among universities from South-East European countries for better education and sustainable development was also raised as an important issue of the forum.

Cyril and Methodius “, Skopje; Zlatko Zoglev, Rector of the University “St. Clement of Ohrid” Bitola; Sasa Mitrev, Rector of the University “Goce Delcev”, Shtip; and Jordan Plevnes, Rector of the University of Audiovisual Arts – ESRA, Skopje.
