Best Practices in Museum Management: Communicating and Educating the Public. Milan (Italy). 11-12 March 2010
The UNESCO Office in Venice together with the Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Technologia Leonardo da Vinci will organize a training workshop on “Best Practices in Museum Management: Communicating and Educating the Public” in Milan (Italy) from 11-12 March 2010.
The training workshop is one of the activities within the Joint Programme "Culture and Heritage for Social and Economic Development" in Albania implemented by UNESCO and UNDP and funded trough the Spanish MDG Achievement Fund. The overall goal of the Joint Programme activities for the National History Museum in Tirana – inclusive of the Training - is to transform the Museum into a modern cultural institution according the international standards for preservation, presentation and management.
Engelbert Ruoss, Director of UNESCO Venice Office, Fiorenzo Galli, General Director of the Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Technologia Leonardo da Vinci and, Luan Malltezi, Director of the National History Museum in Tirana, will open this two-day training workshop. Participants from four different institutions will share the best practice in museum management focusing on public-oriented communication and education. Results of the training workshop will be incorporated and applied to the new operational plans for the running of the NHM at international standards, to be developed during 2010 under the framework of this project activity.
The Museum in Milan hosts the headquarters of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) in Italy
