Call for Abstracts – XXVth Conference of the Danube Countries (submission deadline: 7 March 2011)

Budapest University of Technology and Economic Sciences (BME) and „VITUKI” Environmental Protection and Water Management Research Institute (VITUKI) are organising the XXVth Conference of the Danube Countries on Hydrological Forecasting and Hydrological Bases of Water Management under the auspices of the Hungarian National Committee for UNESCO International Hydrological Programme (IHP) and WMO Hydrology and Water Resources Programme (HWRP) in the frame of the IHP UNESCO Regional Hydrological Cooperation of the Danube Countries in cooperation with several other international and professional initiatives, organisations and agencies.

 

The Conference will be held at the premises of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, in Budapest (Hungary) on 16-17 June 2011. Parallel seminars and symposia will deal with the following topics:

- Hydrological forecasting with special emphasis on flood forecasting and warning;

- Hydrometeorological extremes I. Drought and low flow conditions  - in cooperation with the DMCSEE Project;

- Hydrometeorological extremes II. New ideas and approaches in flood frequency analyses  - in cooperation with the COST 901 Action;

- Climate change, hydrological processes and impact studies in the Danube Basin;

- EU Strategy for the Danube Region - 1, Water management – river basin management planning and experience in the field of implementation of EU Water Framework Directive;

- EU Strategy for the Danube Region  – 2 ,Flood protection and defence – flood hazard and flood risk mapping, implementation of elements of the EU Flood Management Directive;

- Sediment transport and river morphology, river training and navigation conditions;

- Development in hydrological sciences: GIS application and distributed models, theory and technological development
