Call for Proposals: Development and Broadcasting of Social Content Programmes that promote Cultural Diversity and Multi-Cultural Civic Identity (Deadline : 9 February 2012)
Call for Proposals (CFP); Country of Destination: The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia; Description: Development and Broadcasting of Social Content Programmes that promote Cultural Diversity and Multi-Cultural Civic Identity; Project: Joint Programme "Enhancing Inter-Ethnic Community Dialogue and Collaboration"; Deadline for the submission of Applications: Thursday 9 February 2012, by 17.00 hours (Local Time)
The United Nations seeks to advance the country’s achievements in enhancing inter-ethnic relations by promoting inter-ethnic dialogue and collaboration. It does this by supporting the efforts of central Government, relevant local bodies and civil society. The main objectives of the UN Programme are: Governance - Improve national systems and capacities for inter-ethnic cohesion; Education - Reinforce the education system’s ability to promote diversity; and, Society - Promote tolerance and respect between different groups.
One of the goals of the Programme is to assist media, local and religious leaders and civil society organizations to promote and practice a greater level of cultural sensitivity and civic awareness. To date, this has been started through support to journalists within the framework of the Programme. Outside of the field of journalism, given the very little community-based and/or local content programming in the country, UNDP aims to support other forms of media that mainstream stories of tolerance and respect for inter-cultural issues and civic identity through formats such as docu-tainments, sitcoms, reality TV episodes, radio and television local content or other types of social content programming that aim to foster social cohesion.
The objective of this call for proposals is to design, develop and produce social content programmes (such as mini-series, docu-tainment programmes, reality TV episodes) that promote diversity, tolerance and social cohesion.
