The multidisciplinary approach of the 6th REIC Summer School on Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) in SEE (Fojnica, 23 August-3 September 2010) sponsored by the UNESCO Venice Office was addressed to young professionals and final year students from the following countries in SEE countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, as well as UNMIK/Kosovo.

It was conceived to foster a closer cooperation among young SEE students in terms of scientific knowledge advancement and intercultural dialogue necessary for achieving sustainable development. The summer school took into account both environmental and societal aspects of renewable energy use and energy efficiency improvement. UNESCO’s support was oriented towards strengthening regional capacity-building in environmental management and encouraging the exchange and flow of information amongst young researchers.
