Exchanging information and good practices on national policies for the digitisation of cultural heritage in SEE
On 22 October 2010 the Skopje Regional Centre for Digitisation of Cultural Heritage (RECEDIG) will host a meeting aimed at exchanging information and good practices on national policies for the digitisation of cultural heritage in South-Eastern Europe.
Participants in the meeting will be representatives of the Ministries of culture of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, FYR Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania and Serbia. The meeting is also intended to inaugurate the RECEDIG’s activities, and to present the Centre as a platform for the enhancement of coordination and regional cooperation in the field of digitisation.
The RECEDIG is the result of a project financed by the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs – Italian Development Cooperation, and realised by UNESCO through its regional office for Science and Culture in Europe, based in Venice (UNESCO Venice Office). The Centre was created in close collaboration with the Macedonian Ministry of Culture, and it operates under the aegis of the Cultural Heritage Protection Office. Future activities of the project will include the organisation of training seminars at national as well as regional level, and with the digitisation of the archives of the Skopje Cultural Heritage Conservation Centre.
This initiative is part of the broader strategy for enhancing cultural cooperation in South-Eastern Europe within the framework of the annual Ministerial Conferences on Cultural Heritage in SEE, which includes the development of regional centres of excellence in the different domains of cultural heritage safeguarding and management.
