Interculturalism and Intercultural Education. MDG conference in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The MDG-F Programme Culture for Development, jointly implemented by UNESCO, UNDP and UNICEF, is organizing a Conference on “Interculturalism and Intercultural Education” in co-operation with the State Ministry of Civil Affairs. The event will be opened by Sredoje Nović, Minister of Civil affairs and Yuri Afanasiev, UN Resident Coordinator in Bosnia and Herzegovina, on 16 January 2012 (10 am.) at the State Parliament Building. The importance of improving intercultural dialogue and intercultural education is one of the main topics of the Conference, which will showcase the importance of the symbols of multiculturalism in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Conference will gather more than 100 representatives of State, entity and local administrations, pedagogical institutes, local co-ordinators and representatives of primary schools that participated in the implementation of the Culture for Development Programme in the past three years.

The MDG-F Programme Culture for Development is a three-year programme that is being implemented in partnership of UNESCO, UNDP and UNICEF in cooperation with the State Ministry of Civil Affairs, Ministry of Culture and Sports of FBiH, Ministry of Education and Culture of RS, as well as other institutions working in the area of education and culture. The Programme is implemented through the Millennium Development Goals Achievement Fund, financed by the Government of Kingdom of Spain.
