Internship opportunity with UNESCO Venice Office: Executive Office (Deadline: 20 August 2012)

UNESCO is currently seeking an intern to assist the Executive Office (EO) within the Venice Office in its role to coordinate and communicate office participation in UNDAFs and Delivering as One (DaO) initiatives in Europe and the Mediterranean region.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision by the Director as required, the intern will be jointly supervised by the Coordination Officer and the Programme Officer for MDG-F Joint Programmes (JPs), and undertake the following tasks:

In cooperation with the Information and Knowledge Management (IKM), update and/or assist in the creation of the relevant UVO website Country Profile pages;

Monitor and provide a periodic overview of UNESCO/UVO presence on other UN websites in the region, in coordination with the Office’s web editor;

Provide administrative support in the framework of the Office involvement as a non-resident agency (NRA) in the joint UN initiatives in the region;

Assist the EO in the preparation of reports and planning documents, such as the Final Report for the MDG-F Joint Programmes and the UNESCO Country Programming Documents (UCPDs) for the 2012-2013 planning cycle;

Provide assistance with general office organization and maintenance of files (physical and on the server) for UNDAF-related support in a way that information is up-to-date and easily accessible;

Assist in the preparation and organization of meetings, trainings and events at UNESCO Venice Office as required;

Make travel/mission arrangements and prepare correspondence and assemble documents for these missions;

Undertake other tasks as requested.

Preference will be given to those candidates who can remain for the entire four-month period and who are seriously considering pursuing a career with the United Nations or other International Organization upon graduation from their programme of studies.
