Methodology for Development of Local Environmental Action Plans Presented in Sarajevo
Representatives of 23 municipalities from Bosnia and Herzegovina and CSOs working on protection of the environment attended the first workshop on Methodology for Development of Local Environmental Action Plans as a part of the MDG-F Environment and Climate Change Programme.
Key focus of the one-day event attended by more than 60 people was on detailed introduction of the methodology, its key elements and significance of participative (inclusive) planning at the local level.Source : http://www.undp.ba/index.aspx?PID=7&RID=655
The MDG-F Programme aims to improve local level environmental planning by developing effective participatory environmental methods and enhance management of environmental resources by improving environmental service delivery mechanism. Development of Local Environmental Action Plans will be conducted in total of 30 municipalities countrywide.
The MDG-F Programme Environment and Climate Change: “Mainstreaming environmental governance: linking local and national action in BiH” is a three-year programme funded by the Spanish Millennium Development Goals Achievement Fund which is being jointly implemented by five UN Agencies: UNDP, UNV, UNEP, FAO and UNESCO, in partnership with the BiH Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, the BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs, the RS Ministry of Civil Engineering and Ecology, the RS Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water-Management, the FBiH Ministry of Ecology and Tourism, the FBiH Ministry of Agriculture, Water-Management and Forestry, the participating municipalities and civil society organizations.
