Under the overall supervision the National Programme Manager and Coordinator and daily supervision of the Project Officer (Local Capacity Development), the Project Officer will be responsible for the technical activities (reconstruction/construction, reparations, purchases of technical equipment) as well as of capacity building activities with the partner municipalities and Civil Society organisations.
The Project Officer will be a member of a team of the MDGF Culture and Development Programme. The Culture and Development programme in BiH is a joint initiative by UNDP, UNESCO and UNICEF and funded through the Spanish MDG Achievement Fund (MDG-F) that aims to address issues of intercultural understanding and the role of culture for development. The programme duration is 3 years and the total budget amounts to 8 million USD.

The incumbent’s duties are outlined below and are to be undertaken with due respect to UNDP regulations and rules and in accordance with UNDP internal control framework:

• Contribution to effective Programme Management
• Provision of Technical Advice and Capacity Development activities to UNDP partners
• Contribution to the development of the Country Office as a knowledge-based institution
• Ensure Gender mainstreaming within the project

Qualifications :

• Advanced university degree in a field related to Civil Engineering with three years of relevant experience.
• Or University degree in Civil Engineering and five years of relevant experience.
• procurement & construction experience in an international organization;
• Previous experience in Bosnia and Herzegovina in implementing complex construction projects
• Knowledge of BiH and UNDP tendering & contracting regulations is an asset;
• Working experience in budgeting, cost accounting and contract administration;
• Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel) Ability and willingness to travel within BiH;
• Fluency in English and local languages
