Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency in South East Europe - Fojnica, Bosnia & Herzegovina 10-23 August 2009
The 5th International Summer School on the topic of "Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in South East Europe" will be held from 10 to 23 August 2009 in Fojnica, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The event is organised by the Regional Education and Information Centre for Sustainable Development in SEE (REIC) with the support of the UNESCO Office in Venice.
The Regional Education and Information Centre for Sustainable Development in SEE has organised until date 4 Summer Schools on the following topics: “Sustainable Development and Environmental Integration in a European Prospective” (Cervia, Italy 2005), “Environmental Integration in Territorial Management and Planning” (Sarajevo, BiH and Nature Park Lonjsko Polje, Croatia 2006), "Social and environemntal aspects related to building and operating of energy facilities" (Tuzla, BiH and National park Djerdap Serbia 2007), and “Sustainable development and Renewable energy in South East Europe” (Fojnica BiH, 2008).
The summer school for 2009 is thematically dedicated to renewable energy and energy efficiency and its role in achieving sustainable development and especially in fighitng air pollution and climate change effectively together. Both environmental and social aspects of using renewable energy and impoving of energy efficiency will be considered.
The summer school aims at deepening and expanding sectoral knowledge though multidisciplinary approach offering comprehensive and innovative methods of work and approaches in solving of obstacles in introducing and using renewable energy and improving energy efficiency.
Lecturers will be leading experts in the region in the remevant fields, coming from universities, relevant govermental bodies and in-field non-govermental organisation from Europe. The offered multidisciplinary programme is targeting young professionals and final year students (different professions: economist, engineers, journalists, natural sciences…) from the South East European region: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, as well as territory Kosovo.
The organizer will cover travel and full board accommodation costs for the participants coming from universities and non-governmental organization.
