Round table “Media, Citizens and Intercultural communication”. EU Info Center. Skopje, FYR Macedonia. 20 December 2010
The event to be convened by the School of Journalism and Public Relations at the EU Info Center in Skopje is organised with the support of the MDG-F on “Enhancing Inter-ethnic Community Dialogue and Collaboration” in FYR Macedonia.
The round table will be opened by Zaneta Trajkoska, Director of the School of Journalism and Public Relations. Among the invited speakers are : Diedre Boyd, UN resident coordinator; Heinz Bongartz, Fridriech Ebert Stiftun; Ljubomir Jakimovski and Sefer Tahiri, book authors; Marina Tuneva, lecturer at the School of Journalism and Public Relations; Muhamed Zekiri, Editor in Chief „Аlsat М“; Jasna Frangovska, Deputy Editor in Chief daily „Nova Makedonija“.
Discussions will focus on the following topics :
- UN priorities for strengthening the intercultural dialogue
- Fridriech Ebert Stiftung commitments for strengthening the role of media in the democratic society
- The importance of intercultural communication and the role of media in the reporting of diversity
- Citizens Journalism and Intercultural Communication
- Positive experiences in reporting diversity
Along with the round table discussion, the School of Journalism and Public Relations will promote the publication of the textbook titled “Media, Citizens and Intercultural communication”, generously supported by the UNESCO Venice Office in the framework of the UN Joint Programme “Enhancing Inter-ethnic Community Dialogue and Collaboration” and the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung.
The Exhibition „Defenders of Human Rights“, joint creative works of the students at the School of Journalism and Public Relations and of the American College from Skopje, will close the round table.
