Seminar of the South East European Experts Network on Intangible Cultural Heritage. 3-7 May 2010. Râmnicu Vâlcea, Romania

The Romanian Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, with the support of the UNESCO Office in Venice, will host the annual Seminar of the South East European Experts Network on Intangible Cultural Heritage, to be held in Râmnicu Vâlcea during 3-7 May 2010.

The Seminar will gather experts on Intangible Cultural Heritage in representation of the following countries: Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Ukraine, Turkey, Italy, Cyprus, Slovenia and Estonia.

The Seminar will offer the opportunity to discuss on the implementation of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (2003) in the participating countries. The seminar programme also includes sessions dedicated to: revitalisation of intangible cultural heritage; cultural tourism and ICH: risks and opportunities; coordination between the UNESCO Conventions on the World Cultural and Natural Heritage (1972), on the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (2003), and on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expression (2005).

Previous meetings of the annual Seminar of the South East European Experts Network on Intangible Cultural Heritage took place in Zagreb, Croatia (2009); Safranbolu, Turkey (2008); and Arbanassi, Bulgaria (2007).
