Sharing MDG-F experiences: Bosnia and Herzegovina meets Spain
UNESCOVENICE news (10/06/2010) MDG-F BiH Culture : Mr. Sinisa Sesum, Senior Programme Officer and Mrs. Amila Terzimehic, Assistant Programme Officer from the UNESCO Venice Office - Antenna Office in Sarajevo, participated in an intense 5 day study visit in Madrid, from 24 to 28 May 2010.
The visit organized by the Spanish Cooperation for Development and the UN MDG-F Joint Programmes, was aimed at encouraging the transfer of knowledge and experiences from cultural Spanish institutions to 16 representatives from key government institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina in charge of cultural affairs. Representatives of three UN agencies namely, UNICEF, UNESCO and UNDP also participated in the visit.
Participants attended workshops conducted in important cultural institutions of Spain. The common opinion shared during the visit was that inter-culturalism and multi-ethnicity should become a key factor of development throughout Europe.
Bosnia and Herzegovina will attempt to develop mechanisms that will safeguard diversity yet encourage intercultural dialogue.
Participants visited the Spanish Ministry of Culture, Center for Resources for Cultural Diversity in Education, State Institute for Culture Heritage, Madrid (municipal) Culture Center and the Spanish Cooperation headquarters as well as several museums in Madrid.
